Anaphylaxis Management and EpiPen® Administration information/refresher session assists participants in maintaining knowledge and skills to provide a safer environment in the prevention and management of critical allergic reactions. It provides information and training for parents, childcare workers and teachers responsible for the care of individual/s with a recognised life threatening allergic sensitivity in the workplace, school, kindergarten or home on the timely provision of first aid assistance to a person suffering acute allergic reaction or Anaphylaxis.
Note: This training is for information/refresher purposes to assist participants in maintaining skill competency. Persons requiring accreditation to meet the training requirements of the Victorian Department of Education and Early
Childhood Development (DEECD) for staff working in schools and children services should complete the course

- Anaphylaxis background information
- Know the common allergens in children and adults
- Recognise the signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction/anaphylaxis
- First aid management of allergic reaction/anaphylaxis including:
- Identify and understand an Anaphylaxis Action Plan
- First aid for an allergic reaction/anaphylaxis
- First presentation where no Action Plan exists (undiagnosed)
- Practical skills development in administration of Adrenaline using a pre-loaded EpiPen® syringe
- EpiPen® storage, operation and disposal
